Description

A GYPSY MYTH ABOUT THE FAIRIES OF FATE

On the third night after the birth, the child receives the visit of the Urmes, the three fairies that determine the child’s destiny. The first is called “good”, and is the oldest of the three; the youngest is called “bad” due to misfortune; the third, “calm”, acts as a mediator, so that the fate of the child is not too lucky or unlucky.
During the day the Urmes live in the mountains, under the trees, where they spend the time singing, dancing and playing games, while in the evening they withdraw in their subterranean abode or they go in search of some child to fix their fate. Of them it is said that they are of extraordinary beauty. They are also called the “white women” because they are wrapped in a white veil.

The jewels of the collection MITI are inspired by mythical characters or events.
