AN AFRICAN MYTH ABOUT HOW THE FROGS WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT RAIN
A long time ago it happened that no rain fell for days and days, so all the animal species of the forest came together and decided they would invoke the rain. They split into various groups, from the biggest to the smallest. The elephants, then rhinoceros, giraffes, and so on, called the water in the languages they knew, until it came to the turn of the frogs and they croaked for hours. While they croaked, the clouds began to thicken, and then the water came down in droves. For this reason, when men listen the insistant croaking of the frogs, they do not doubt that the rain is near.
The jewels of the collection MITI are inspired by mythical characters or events.
This jewel is an exception because it was not made in our workshop in Niger, in fact the silver frog has been shaped by a skilled craftsman of Kathmandu.
